Hi folks, just had some real good trips around the Karoo, a semi desert. Had a rest at Plettenburg bay then over the mountain to a totally different area a bit like outback Australia. Stayed on a farm with lots of thorn trees, careful with the tyres. To a place called Baviaanskloof (valley of the baboons). Beautiful place between two mountain ranges through a gorge near the start. Wild dog sleeping on the road, want to be careful or he will get run over. Across some farm land with donkeys towing carts then into river crossings up to 400mm most with a concrete base some rocky, not a place to drop it. Then into the real challenging stuff 4x4 only dangerous single lane passes with lots of rocky steps going up and down, one spot with a 700 drop if ya fell off. One guy did 2 months ago trying to take over a trailer full of sheep, stupid boy.
Tried a campsite but full of baboons someone has had a tent ripped to bits by them with food in their tent. So found one further away no boons, well until the next day but i think they were more scared of me 3 big guys, mind you i do look scary after a few days roughing it. Real good route then north across another 4x4 trail and near the mountains with 2 couples on klr650s to Willowmore again. Now chilling out in Oudtshoorn lots of good day rides from here. Still can't send photo's without lots of hassle, I'll get a cd then Doug could probably do it somehow.
Time for a swim tough life here in Africa, nice weather getting cold at night though.
